Federline’s attorney Mark Kaplan told NBC News on Monday, April 11, that his client was “aware” of Spears’s announcement. “He wishes her the best for a happy, healthy pregnancy and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they plan for the excitement of parenthood together,” Kaplan told the outlet.
Britney Spears shared the news of her pregnancy on Instagram on Monday afternoon, writing that she and fiancé (or possibly husband?) Sam Asghari are spreading joy and love in the wake of their impending parenthood. The 40-year-old stated last year that she and Asghari were hoping for a child together, but that under her conservatorship she was unable to remove her IUD.
Asghari, 28, shared his own statement to Instagram following Spears’s announcement, writing that “marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do.” He accompanied the post with a photo of three lions, a mom, dad, and baby cub.
Now Spears’s two sons, Sean and Jayden, are 16 and 15, respectively, but she remembers suffering from perinatal depression all too well. “Some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her,” she wrote about her first pregnancies. “But now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret.”
This time around she says she plans to do yoga every day to ward off any possible symptoms. And if her IG is any indication, she’ll probably be dancing too.
