The group Paris Hilton describes as the “holy trinity” of the early aughts is thriving in 2021.
During a recent episode of her podcast, This Is Paris, Hilton spoke about her November wedding to husband Carter Reum, which got the socialite thinking about her past friendships with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears—and just how far the three of them have come since spending their early 20s partying and being chased by the paparazzi.
“I also just saw that Lindsay got engaged,” Hilton said, per Elle. “And I know we’ve had our differences in the past, but I just wanted to say congratulations to her and that I am genuinely very happy for her.”
While Hilton and Lohan were practically famous for their friendship in the early aughts, their relationship had a series of ups and downs for years. By 2019, Hilton seemingly confirmed that their friendship was firmly in past. During an interview on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Hilton to say three nice things about the Mean Girls star. Hilton responded, “beyond, lame, and embarrassing.”
Hilton also told Cohen, “Back in the day we were friends, but she’s just one of those people I don’t really trust. I only like to be around positive energy and good people.”
While Lohan likely wasn’t invited to Hilton’s wedding, it seems she’s ready to move on from their feud. During her podcast episode, the Simple Life star said that seeing Britney Spears freed from her 13-year conservatorship and hearing of Lohan’s recent engagement to her fiancé, Bader Shammas, is making her “so happy.”
“It just makes me so happy to see, you know, 15 years later, and just so much has happened in the past two weeks,” Paris Hilton said. “I got married, Britney got her freedom back and engaged, and then Lindsay just got engaged.”
She continued, “So I love just seeing how different our lives are now and just how much we’ve all grown up and just having love in our lives.”
